The Legendary JAM delivered their last single.... BEAT SURRENDER on Top of the Pops, (a weekly rock show on the BBC). From there Paul Weller created The Style Council and this became somewhat of a favorite with critics.
Weller was accused of ruining everything the Jam created through an enormous Ego. Maybe this is true but he was definately a disciple of Pete Townsend of the WHO. Finding his Quadrophenic sensibilities a little late.... (mid 70's) he expalined that discovering the Mod sound was justifiable, ("By the time i found it, it was new to me....")
This is shown rarely in America..... usually at 4 in the morning on MTV2 if your lucky. You may hear this track on your lunch hour in the car on a flashback radio show........... Its just as vibrant today as it ever was.
