BEAT RODEO - Where is IRS Records When YOU NEED THEM MOST?

The mid 80's were an interesting time. You could actually find interesting bands and music like this...... It didn't have to sound like everything out there and for a wonderful brief while.... this Disney music machine was non-existant.

To put it another way -- the secret music police didn't even exist. While creeping into an elevator to my corporate job my boss sneared to me that he rather liked this new Disney pop maker machine. I nodded. He got more persistant when I didn't eagerly take to his baiting. What can I say? I think that manufactured stuff is a lot of shit.

Beat Rodeo popped up on IRS records - a label that didn't cave into social pressures and churn out expected crap. During its brief but powerful reign it cranked out incredible pop gems like this one. It featured bands that were not easily classified. It was what the cool kids listened to before they went on to become zombies driving SUV's to their utter unglamour-like jobs in banks, city government and engineer sweat shops... where they tolled to the point of forgetting their humble but earnest urban beginnings.

These slabs of interesting vinyl can be found in a dollar bin near you. But its worth investigating.
