This is great television.
"Fat Albert" was a great cartoon in the 1970's and delivered a lot of great morals. This cartoon holds up for a very simple reason. They weren't trying to hawk a toy or a cereal like in the cartoons of the 90's and 200o's. It was there to entertain the kids.
This is a "lost concept" in modern day America.
These characters were based off of Bill Cosbys stand up material and his memories of growing up as a youth. Cartoons now that soley entertain are crammed with rapid fire one liners and dumb expressions, (Family Guy, Simpsons.. etc.) .... and constant referrances to "Home Alone" .... where every character lets out an exhaustive, "AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" every five minutes. I fault Disney for embrasing this stupid device and just about anything Pixar puts out.
The pacing of this cartoon is nice too. There is a natural flow to it. This series later crapped out in the early 80's with the inclusion of, "The Brown Hornet", (a super hero that flies around in a spaceship shaped like a brown hornet of all things....).
