ECHOBELLY - IN THE YEAR.....

"WHERE IS THE VIDEO - I SAID !!??"

Sadly, there was never a video for this track. However, it is one of the more brilliant songs from the ON CD.... This release was interesting for another reason. When you flipped the CD over on a 180 degree angle, it reads as NO. Hmmmm

I like this poppy version of Echobelly -- the first three albums really speak to me. There are so many guitar hooks on them so they never fall flat or become tiresome. The later CD's are very somber -- still brilliant -- but different.

This is worth picking up -- and you can still get it at Amazon.com.

This and "EGO - everybodys, got one" is definately worth getting because it has the same central themes working through the songs. Singer Sonya Aurora has a lot of heart and soul in these tracks while some riffs speak from the vault of The Smiths. Actually Morrissey first praised this band in an old issue of the now defunct, RayGun magazine. This was the creation of graphic uberlord David Carson.

After all this time -- this track shines in the dark.

ECHOBELLY - WHERE YOU BEEN?

"One of the Best B-Sides You'll Never Hear..... "

This B side is hard to find -- its from the old Fauve label. You have to hunt it down on Ebay or go to an UK CD site. Even then you have to dig around till you find it. The GREAT THINGS Cd collection is actually two seperately released EP's. They are really great if you can find them..... honestly!

This great track ONE AFTER 5 AM was never a video. I found this online -- someone made a compilation of it and posted it. This is one of the more thought provoking tracks I come across by this band in quite some time. You can also find LUSTRA and many wonderful tracks on it. If you want a real score check that one out on AMAZON.COM. You can get it for like.. TWO BUCKS... and man.. its a steal.... These CD's are treasures.....

The NEW ECHOBELLY is great too but they have swung a serious introverted left and are now delivering a different brand of pop music. It is just as interesting but lacks a lot of power packed guitar hooks that attracted me to them in the first place.

All in all, a worthy effort.

When Madam Sonya Aurora sang to the kids in the front row.... a number of them burst out into tears. This soulful pop got them into the music press quick and fast and even attracted the attention of pop typography publisher David Carson, (RayGun magazine) and singer Morrissey. They sang their hearts out at the WETLANDS in New York City, ( Don't bother looking for it now, they tore it down around 1999). After LUSTRA the band went silent and that particular CD became very hard to track down.
I had to go to a UK based record store in CT called, AB/CD. I got some of the singles and limited EP's. The videos were hard to locate..... But you can find them these days online.

ECHOBELLY - THE WORLD IS FLAT - VIDEO

"THE WORLD IS INDEED FLAT I SAID !!"

this is music.

....AHEM.... And amazing music at that. Echobelly - from the album, "Lustra" AKA.. GREAT RELEASE IF YOU CAN FIND IT. This came out a number of years back and its their last great poppy effort. The releases that followed were very dark and introspective. Echobelly was still MIGHTY in sound but kicking out a much different kind of sound.

The video is plain. I'll give you that. My own imaginings for what could be possible were more expressive and imaginative. Working off a small budget I doubt this label would have too much of a budget. In either case this band is their greatest special effect. This possibly explains why most of their videos are live performances of the band playing to the pubilc.
