THE KING OF DENIRO - JOE KING CARRASCO

"HE WAS NOT A CHICKS BAND !!!"

This guy knew what FUN was all about. His video production values were piss poor. When you add this all up the balance sheet tells us that he probably wasn't a "HIT" with the chicks......

But I enjoyed him.

A lot.

It takes guts to be yourself and to kick out stuff like this -- even if its for ten people. This is why Andy Kaufman's entertaining hijinx are so attractive -- especially now in these sorry times. True individual music and hailing from Austin Texas this is truely music for the brave. THE KING was featured a lot on IRS Cutting Edge in the late 80's while most of the public was going ga ga over Genesis and Terrance Trent D'arby. Carrasco and the Crowns were a regular feature on MTV in the early days. I'm quite sure the metal kids hated his guts as these long haired anthems wailed on about teenage heartbreak and revenge in the food court.

But this music is not about violence. It is about UNDERSTANDING that life is fun. But then again this was before the country had lost its mind to war, SUV's, and becoming grandparents at age 40. In the grand comparison of things to come -- this stuff was pretty harmless.

I'm digging it now -- even still. In fact, I say its more relevant now than it was when it first came out. Being silly takes balls.

HAIL TO THE KING BABY.
